Technology To Stop Drunk Driving

Almost 9,000 road traffic deaths could be prevented every year if alcohol detection devices were used in all vehicles.

The new Driver Alcohol Detection Systems for Safety is a system for cars that would decide whether the level of alcohol in your blood is normal or above limit and accordingly deny the driving privileges.

In this technology the use of strategically placed sensors in places like the steering wheel and door locks, would analyze a driver’s skin or breath to determine a driver’s level of intoxication. There are some existing systems that require drivers to blow into a tube. The system is being promoted as an alternative to alcohol ignition interlock systems that force drivers to blow into a breathalyzer type device before the car can be started.
